Instead of Running Away...
How many times in your life have you backed down from something that made you uncomfortable? Did you regret it later? Did you wonder what might have happened if you had asked a question? Chosen differently?
Uncomfortable can show up in so many ways. With people, with a job, with an activity, clothes, anything new.... We immediately go to our reference points to figure out if it is worth it to be uncomfortable or if it is easier to back down and run away.
Recently, I finally got it! I was part of 24 hour Symphony Advanced Practitioner Session. I facilitated a 30 minute Symphony Session and then sat back and received that amazing Symphony energy session after session as the baton of energy was passed around the world! The longest Symphony session I had ever received prior was 45 minutes. That was enough to leave me wobbling in a different reality. Imagine non stop for hours!! That got REALLY uncomfortable!!
Symphony energy work is about getting you out of your own way to receive and create greater in your life. Each session we were asked what we would like to get out of the session. The energy of all the people taking the session combined with the facilitator orchestrating the symphony of energy is intense and can be life changing! Did I mention there were 1079 people participating around the world?! I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to run away from the intensity and the unknown shift that was occurring in my body. And then I figured it out!
You lean into things that are uncomfortable, you don’t back down! Keep asking “What else is possible? How much better does it get? What is possible now? If not this, then what?” You get the idea- questions that you cannot answer with a conclusion. The more I leaned into the energy and the change, the easier it got and the more exciting it was to feel my body changing!!
As I reflected on this new (to me) epiphany, I realized I had experienced this “lean into” concept. Perhaps you may be able to relate to this. I spent several years being trained in Taekwando. One of the most valuable things I learned was when faced with an obstacle, attacker, opponent; lean into the attack- they aren’t expecting you to do that. Dive in and don’t stop... build momentum.
It never occurred to me that you could lean into what you were creating! You know, the abstract. What if, when you started getting uncomfortable with something, you leaned into it? Embraced it. Became more present with it and asked questions that would give you greater clarity. Maybe the uncomfortable is your body being excited. Would it create greater in your life if you chose it? Is this the change you have been asking for? What do I know about this? Can it be changed? How can I change it?
Embracing the energy of something that makes you uncomfortable and being present with it, with total allowance, actually allows you to change it. To be different with whatever it is. Allowance means no judgement; be interesting point of view. POC and POD every where you are judging or making something significant. POC POD and return to senders all of the reference points you are using to stop you. Say “Everything is the opposite of what it appears to be, and nothing is the opposite of what it appears to be” repeatedly to unstick you points of view. As you do this, you will feel your body get lighter and lighter and your discomfort will melt away revealing a much brighter possibility!
You get it when you get it!
